Correction appended
Three employees and a campus street vendor were found guilty Thursday of a month-long scheme in which they stole more than $200,000 worth of books from the GW Bookstore.
Campus surveillance videos showed bookstore employees Darrell Coleman and Kyle Culbreath taking new books off shelves and piling them into boxes, NBC Washington reported. The boxes were then dropped off at the store’s loading dock for hot dog vendor Hao Nguyen to pick up and sell online.
The scheme lasted from December 2010 to January 2011, the news station reported. Coleman will be sentenced Nov. 16 and Culbreath, Nguyen and another man involved, Kiry McCullum, will be sentenced Jan. 18.
Nguyen has sold hot dogs and snacks outside Gelman Library for 21 years. The vendor also buys and sells books from students toward the end of each semester.
University Police Chief Kevin Hay said in a statement to NBC Washington that the arrests were the result of a joint investigation between officers and bookstore employees.

The Hatchet incorrectly reported that the bookstore theft was part of a yearlong scheme. It was a month-long scheme.
