Alumna Tammy Duckworth clinched a win in Illinois’ 8th congressional district Tuesday.
NBC News called the race in the Democrat and war veteran’s favor at about 10:15 p.m. She defeated Rep. Joe Walsh, R-Ill., who has held the office since last January.
Duckworth graduated from the Elliott School of International Affairs in 1992. She lost her legs when her helicopter was shot down in Iraq.
