GW dived nearly three-dozen spots to No. 168 in a global ranking of universities released Wednesday.
The Times of Higher Education’s world university ranking soured on GW’s stature as a global institution in its annual ranking – in a year when administrators have touted its widening international scope.
The London-based magazine had named GW the No. 135 university in the world last year, and No. 95 two years ago.
Nine of the 14 private universities that GW considers its peers ranked higher in this year’s ranking. GW still outpaced Georgetown, which came in at a No. 174.
The Times of Higher Education uses 13 indicators like percentage of international students and research income to rank the world’s top 400 universities.
California Institute of Technology was ranked No. 1 for the second consecutive year.
