Hannah Schaible, a guard from Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Fla., is the latest recruit commitment for the Colonials, bringing newly hired head coach Jonathan Tsipis’ first class to three.
Bret McCormick, of the All-Star Girls Report, first broke the news on the 5-foot-9 guard’s commitment. Schaible confirmed her decision to attend GW on her personal Twitter.
Schaible is known as a strong all-around athlete who competes on basketball, volleyball and flag football teams. Among the three sports, she’s won three state championships, and was named the 2011-12 Overall Athlete of the Year by the Orlando Sentinel. Schaible competes as an outside hitter on her volleyball team, and tallied 210 kills and 305 digs last season. As a quarterback for her flag football team, she is a three-time All-Central Florida Player of the Year and has 147 career passing touchdowns, earning her the nickname “Hannah Joe Montana.”
Last season, Schaible averaged over 12 points and seven rebounds per game while leading the Dr. Phillips girls’ basketball team to its second straight state championship. ESPN HoopGurlz ranks her as a three-star recruit, with a scouting grade of 88, and notes that call her a “hustle player” with a “great sense for the game.”
Schaible joins Shannon Cranshaw and Caira Washington as Colonial recruits for the 2012-13 season.
