Senior goalkeeper Cameron Illes is the CWPA Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week, the second time this season he’s earned the honor.
The award comes after Illes tallied 37 saves in three games last week for the Colonials: 15 in GW’s 19-11 loss at Johns Hopkins, 11 in the Colonials’ 7-5 loss at the hands of No. 15 Princeton and 11 saves in Saturday night’s 15-12 victory over Bucknell.
Illes has 145 total saves on the 2012 season, and 930 total in his career as a Colonial. He’s just 21 saves shy of the all-time program record, and this week’s award marks the fourth weekly accolade of Illes’ career.
