Men’s water polo senior goalkeeper Cameron Illes is the Southern Division co-Defensive Player of the Week and freshman Bogdan Petkovic is the CWPA co-Rookie of the Week.

Illes posted 32 saves and allowed 23 goals in four victories over the weekend’s Navy Open. He finished with a 7.67 goals-against average,  a .580 save percentage, and added three assists and six steals in 12 quarters of action. His weekend performance moved Illes into second place all-time at GW with 817 career saves.

Petkovic led the team in his first weekend as a Colonial, scoring 10 goals, posting 12 steals and adding six assists for 16 points. His best game was against Notre Dame Sunday, when he scored four goals and added four assists for a team-best eight points.

The men’s water polo team’s opening 4-0 record is the team’s best since 2006.
