A female unaffiliated with the University was groped by a male while filling her parking meter Tuesday afternoon on the 500 block of 22nd Street.
The man reached under the woman’s skirt and “fondled her buttocks” as she was placing coins in the meter, according to a Safety and Security alert, and then fled the scene. University Police Department Chief Kevin Hay said the investigation is still open.
UPD is working with the Metropolitan Police Department – to whom the woman initially reported the incident – on the case, Hay said.
The suspect was described in the alert as a 5-foot-8 Hispanic man in his mid-30’s, ranging from 175 to 200 pounds with a mustache and short hair. He ran past International House, heading west on Virginia Avenue following the incident.
