Steve Mrowka will not return as the baseball team’s head coach next season, the University announced in a press release Saturday.
Over his eight seasons at GW, Mrowka earned a 202-245 overall record, including a 95-109 record in Atlantic 10 play. Mrowka, who was hired in 2004, qualified for A-10 championship play with the Colonials in 2005, the last season GW advanced to postseason action. He earned his 600th career coaching win while on the field with the Colonials this season.
“We want to thank Steve for his eight seasons as coach of our baseball program,” athletic director Patrick Nero said in the release. “He was always a model of professionalism.”
The search for a new head coach will launch “immediately,” according to the release. GW played its last game at 12 p.m. Saturday, losing 11-1 to Massachusetts. The Colonials earned a 20-35 overall record this season.
