The University Police Department is investigating an incident where the words “white power” were written on the steps of Schenley Hall by an unknown person Tuesday.
UPD will review security camera footage, University spokeswoman Michelle Sherrard said late Tuesday. Sherrard said it was being investigated as vandalism, not a hate crime, because the post made no threat or specific reference to a victim.
The phrase was later crossed out.
The drawing appeared during the annual UCC Chalk-In, hosted by the University Counseling Center to encourage stress relief during finals. Students have been invited to color H Street between 21st and 22nd streets during the event for more than three decades.
