The University will close Munson Hall this summer for elevator and safety upgrades.
Each room in the residence hall will receive new sprinkler heads, Director of GW Housing Programs Seth Weinshel said, and the two elevators will also be replaced.
He declined to release the cost of the upgrades, but said it was similar to other summer residence hall renovations.
The Hatchet reported in September 2009 that renovations to elevators, fire alarms, sprinklers, kitchens and bathrooms in JBKO would cost about $2.65 million.
The Munson project is in line with past summer residence hall closures for safety and elevator upgrades, like that of Guthridge Hall last year.
“This has been the trend that GW has followed over the past few years,” Weinshel said.
