Profile on Style

Deborah Foell. Michael Boosalis | Hatchet Photographer

This post was written by Hatchet reporter Samantha Hatton.

Profile on Style is a weekly post that explores the motivations behind GW’s fashion trends. We’ll show you the most interesting aspects of GW style, and then try to make some sense of it all. Keep your eyes open for a reporter and photographer walking around because you might become the latest trendsetter.

How do students keep it casual on a cold, rainy day? Here are some GW students sporting their own comfortable styles:

Name: Deborah Foell
Year: 2015
Major: Political science
Hometown: Columbus, Ohio
Style Inspiration: Zooey Deschanel
Clothing: Top, Urban Outfitters; jeans, Forever 21; shoes, TOMS; belt, thrift store

Deborah Foell sports the off-the-shoulder trend with her Urban Outfitters black top. She has belted her jeans with a detailed thrift store find, which helps tie her casual yet stylish look together. To keep her look comfortable, Foell wears the perfect walking shoe – a classic, neutral pair of TOMS.

Martin-Eric Osborne. Michael Boosalis | Hatchet Photographer

Name: Martin-Eric Osborne
Year: 2014
Major: International relations
Hometown: Mount Laurel, N.J.
Inspiration: Denzel Washington
Clothing: Jeans, Levi’s; sweater, LRG; slippers, Ugg Australia

To top off his casual, “day-in-the-city” look, sophomore Martin-Eric Osborne wears a LRG sweater with white details and monogramming. A simple pair of black jeans goes great with any piece of clothing but Osborne’s jeans work especially well with the deep navy color of his sweater. And what could be more comfortable on a chilly day than a pair of Uggs?
