Men’s water polo sophomore Daniel Tyner was named to the Collegiate Water Polo Association’s All-South First Team Thursday, the second year in a row he’s earned all-conference team honors after being named to the second team last year.
Among the Colonials who posted at least 50 shots, Tyner led GWwith a 51 percent success rate, converting 48-of-95 shot attempts. Despite missing seven games due to injury, he equaled the GW lead with 44 ejections drawn, finishing third on the team with 20 assists and fourth with 68 points. Tyner led or tied the Colonials team-lead in goals nine times during the season, posting a career-best nine-goal effort in a 14-13 victory over Johns Hopkins on Sept. 24.
Tyner and the Colonials finished with a 13-17 overall record on the season, winning its final three matches at the CWPA Southern Division Championship. GW finished fifth overall, marking the seventh time since 2000 that the Colonials placed fifth at Southerns.
