The ninth annual FRIENDS Neighborhood Block Party will welcome students and neighbors to sample free food and enjoy live performances Sunday.
FRIENDS, a community group aimed at fostering conversation between the University community and neighbors, gathers local businesses and student organizations to put on the free yearly event. Britany Wadell, director of community relations at GW, said the party is an extension of collaboration between the University and the community.
More than 3,000 people attended last year’s event with nearly 120 local businesses, restaurants and groups from the area.
It will take place at the Eye Street Mall near the Foggy Bottom Metro, between 23rd and 24th streets, from 1 to 4 p.m.
“The block party offers the unique opportunity to work with our neighbors to celebrate the wonderful community that GW is proud to be a part of,” Waddell said.
