Sodexo has removed cantaloupe from its menu in J Street in the wake of an outbreak of an infection-causing bacteria found in the fruit.
Seventy-two cases of listeriosis and 13 deaths have been reported in the U.S. as of Monday, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
The University is advising students to follow guidelines listed on the CDC website.
The disease is caused by eating food contaminated with the bacteria Listeria. Although no cases have been reported in D.C., one case has been reported in Virginia and one death has been reported in Maryland.
