University to host Clinton Global Initiative next year

GW will host the fifth annual Clinton Global Initiative University next spring, an organization founded by former President Bill Clinton in 2007 to engage students in international dialogue.

“This partnership is a natural one,” University President Steven Knapp said in a statement. “Since our university strongly shares President Clinton’s commitment to supporting and developing young leaders who are already making a difference in their communities and who will shape the future of our nation and the world.”

About 1,200 students will participate in networking opportunities focusing on human trafficking, public health and human rights issues along with notable speakers including Clinton.

“The George Washington University will provide the perfect venue for these young leaders to join together and take action to effect global change,” Clinton said in a statement.

The global conference will organize on campus next year from March 30 to April 1.
