The Colonials coaching staff added a cross country assistant coach Monday, fresh from her 2011 graduation from the University of Maryland where she served as captain of their cross country program from 2008-2011.
Ashley Campbell finished 56th at the 2010 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals, an event where she finished 47th in 2009. The Saratoga Springs, N.Y. native also finished fifth at the 2009 UMES Lid-Lifter and ninth at both the 2009 Wolfpack Invitational and the Great American Festival.
“I am very excited to have Ashley join the cross country program here at George Washington,” head coach Terry Weir said. “I was fortunate enough to coach her during her collegiate career and am confident that she will bring the same enthusiasm and commitment she possessed as an undergraduate to our student-athletes at GW.”
The Colonials opened the 2011 season with a sixth place finish of six at the Mount St. Mary’s 5K Duals. They’ll next head to the Navy Invitational Sept. 17.
