Profile on Style: Stand out from the crowd

This post was written by Hatchet reporter Regina Fong.

Profile on Style is a weekly post that explores the motivations behind GW’s fashion trends. We’ll show you the most interesting aspects of GW style, and then try to make some sense of it all. Keep your eyes open for a reporter and photographer walking around because you might become the latest trendsetter.

Fall Fest is a crowded event with lots of GW students coming out to have a good time. It’s important to dress smart for this occasion while still looking fashionable. Considering the heat, lightweight material is best with clothes that aren’t dry-clean only. Olivia Tomaszewski is wearing a lightweight off-the-shoulder romper, perfect for such a crowded area yet comfortable for the night’s events. She’s wearing closed-toe shoes that give her outfit a little edge but also protect her toes in case of any accidents.

Mary Gilligan sports an elegant and sophisticated look, wearing a black and white zigzag-patterned dress paired with a thin belt. She layered this with a dark gray cardigan that gave the outfit a more casual feel.

Clothes: Earrings, Topshop; dress, French Connection; bag, Forever 21; shoes, Vintage

The simplest way to set yourself apart is by throwing on a little color, or in Chloé Sorvino’s case, a whole palette of them. Among the sea of people at Fall Fest, she distinguished herself wearing a strapless dress with stripes of bright candy colors. She paired her outfit with bright pink beaded hoops and matched them with neon pink wedges.
