Irene Watch: Shoppers clear CVS of flashlights, small batteries

Both CVS Pharmacy stores in Foggy Bottom have sold out of flashlights and are running low on small batteries, sales representatives said Saturday afternoon.

Neither store could confirm the date of their next shipment. The CVS Pharmacy located on E Street will continue to be open 24-hours and the 2000 Penn location will be open 7 a.m. to midnight.

Sales representatives from the Watergate Safeway and Trader Joe’s would not go into detail about their supply of storm essentials, but said each would be open their regular hours.

Devlin Keating, a manager at Foggy Bottom Grocery, said shoppers have crowded his store all weekend. Cases of water have been a  big seller, he said, but students are also buying more because it is move-in and their parents are here.

“The heavy traffic is probably due to move-in rather than the rainstorm,” Devlin said.
