With all the political turmoil District residents have put up with this summer, it comes to little surprise that D.C. residents have retreated to the bars, according to a survey measuring the boozing levels of the Union.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration placed the District of Columbia as No. 3 on its list of binge drinking states. To earn this spot, 29.69 percent of residents reported having had five or more drinks on one occasion in the past month.
The Dakotas – North and South, respectively – came in at the top of the list with nearly 30 percent of residents reporting binge drinking.
