Director of Athletics Patrick Nero announced today that Christopher Boyer will serve as the deputy director of athletics for external relations.
Boyer’s responsibilities will include coordinating fundraisers, corporate sponsorships, sports marketing and information and ticket sales for the athletics department.
“I greatly appreciate and look forward to this opportunity at George Washington University,” Boyer said. “The bold and exciting vision that is beginning to take shape through the athletic department strategic planning has me anxious to begin contributing to such a prestigious university and meet its stakeholders.”
Boyer has 13 years of experience in intercollegiate athletics, most recently working at the University of Maryland-College Park as the senior associate athletics director for external operations. Before that he served as the associate athletic director at Northwestern University.
“We are thankful that Chris Boyer has agreed to join our athletic department leadership team. He brings tremendous experience from Maryland and Northwestern and will have a very positive impact on the future of GW,” Nero said.
A University of Maryland graduate, Boyer also worked as a marketing and public relations manager at the former FANSonly Network, currently CBS Interactive – Sports, prior to his hire at Northwestern.
