A local alternative to deals and discounts

Want a deal at Rugby Cafe? SalesVote, a new group deals site, has a potential deal for the popular bar available through the weekend. File Photo

The only thing better than a night of food and drinks with friends at Rugby Cafe in Georgetown is a night of food and drinks at Rugby Cafe for half-off.

SalesVote, a new group-buying site similar to Groupon or Living Social, wants to offer you just that.

Alumna Rebecca Slotkin, who began working for SalesVote in May, said the website offers customers discounted deals within a game system. Four deals are offered on the site at a time and as customers buy the deal, their purchase counts as a vote for the best discount. The first ten customers to buy the deal are called “ambassadors” and if their deal earns the most votes, an additional 10 percent discount is added to the deal. The site relies on purchasers networking and promotion of the deal to attract more customers.

“We offer a deeper marketing package than other deal sites. We’re willing to do more work and we are putting the customer first,” said Slotkin.

The deal for Rugby Café, along with discounts on a boot camp, hair services and a motor scooter will continue through the weekend.
