The Washington Nationals selected redshirt senior pitcher Bobby Lucas Jr. in the 27th round of the Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft Tuesday.
Lucas finished the season as the A-10 conference leader in strikeouts, recording 95 and was ranked fourth overall in Division I baseball with 11.92 strikeouts per nine innings. He recorded six strikeouts in at least 10 of his starts and topped the double-digit mark in strikeouts on three occasions.
This is the 12th consecutive year that a Colonial has been drafted.
The Baltimore native concluded his career as a Colonial with 12 victories and 233 strikeouts in 193.2 innings. Lucas leaves GW ranked eighth in program history in strikeouts.
