Metropolitan Police officers are still searching for a 26-year-old Christian minister who was reported missing Wednesday after he was last seen mentoring a GW student Tuesday morning.
Matthew Allen Hill is a staff member at Campus Outreach D.C., a Christian organization that works with college students and operates on campus. The 6-foot white male with blue eyes and dirty blonde hair was scheduled to visit the Capitol Hill Baptist Church after dropping a student off at 9th and H streets at 10:30 a.m., but has fallen off the radar since then, CODC Executive Director David Russell said Friday.
MPD has classified the case as “critical,” Public Information Officer Anthony Clay said Saturday. He added that the department has no public updates on the search.
Russell said it is believed Hill dropped by his Foggy Bottom apartment on 26th Street, and his vehicle was issued a parking citation at about 11 a.m. that morning. MPD has not yet located Hill’s 1996 black Honda Civic, Russell said, and are working to gain legal access to his complete phone and bank records.
Records show a gasoline charge was made to Hill’s debit card in Arlington Tuesday at noon, just after the final call on his phone at 11:45 a.m., Russell said.
“There would be no reason for him to go to Arlington. At this point, we kind of suspect some sort of foul play might have happened,” Russell said, adding that MPD has not yet announced whether circumstances are suspicious.
University Police Chief Kevin Hay said the search for Hill is largely an MPD operation, but UPD officers received fliers with Hill’s photo, a description and the circumstances in which he was last seen.
MPD detective Antonia McClam, who is heading the search for Hill, was not available for immediate comment.
