A contractor was arrested outside of Gelman Library Wednesday after she slashed a maintenance employee’s ear with a pen.
University Police Chief Kevin Hay said the altercation began because of the location of the maintenance employee’s vehicle. The contractor was arrested and charged with assault. The worker only sustained a minor injury, Hay said.
The Metropolitan Police Department processed the female contractor for simple assault at about 2:20 p.m., according to an MPD community e-mail list.
Hay declined to comment on the nature of the contractor’s work on campus and whether or not she was subsequently barred from campus.
