The Foggy Bottom Metro station was left with limited power Monday afternoon, following a power outage related to flooding along the Potomac river.
The station remains open with back-up generators to provide some lighting, Metro spokesman Steven Taubenkibel confirmed, and train service isn’t being affected by the power disruption.
Taubenkibel said the outage is affecting power for station lighting, elevators, escalators and “stair collection equipment.” Metro turnstiles aren’t working at the station.
“It’s the impact of issues that Pepco is experiencing right now,” he said, adding that Metro doesn’t know when the issue will be resolved by the electric company.
A representative from Pepco said the outage was due to nearby flooding that took out power from a feeder servicing the area of the Metro station.
Ross Hall, located next to the Metro, also experienced a power outage Monday and is closed for the rest of the day.
