Pedestrian struck by car on H Street

A car struck a male student near Gelman Library just before 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to eyewitness accounts, the second incident of a pedestrian hit by a car on H Street in two days.

“A student walked out between parked cars around H and 22nd streets and was struck by an automobile,” University spokeswoman Michelle Sherrard said in an e-mail Wednesday afternoon.

Witnesses at the scene said the student was hit by the car’s side view mirror. University Police and an EMeRG ambulance responded, but Sherrard said the student wasn’t hurt and refused medical treatment.

Tuesday morning a female student was struck by a car after crossing H Street outside of a crosswalk. Her injuries were serious but not life-threatening, and she was expected to be released from the hospital that day.
