Men’s golf junior Andres Pumariega was named the Atlantic 10 Men’s Golf Performer of the Week Monday after the Miami native became the fourth Colonial in program history to shoot 4-under or better in a 54-hole tournament.
Pumariega finished in the top 10 of a tournament for the first time this season, posting a four-under-par 212 at the Barefoot at the Beach Intercollegiate in Myrtle Beach, S.C. His third-round score of 69 was the best round for any GW golfer this season.
The Colonials finished in sixth place overall in the 12-team tournament over the weekend with a team score of 886. GW will be back in action next weekend at its own tournament, the GW Invitational at Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club in Bethany Beach, Del. The two-day tournament will begin Friday and continue Saturday.
