Middle East expert and Elliott School of International Affairs professor Marc Lynch headed to the White House Monday morning for a think-tank session on the escalating civil unrest in Egypt, POLITICO’s Laura Rozen is reporting.
Lynch joined a slew of Middle East experts for an off-the-record discussion centering on the lack of a “quick reform package that really works with Mubarak,” Rozen said.
Rozen quotes a meeting attendee who said the Obama administration is considering multiple options, “including the possibility of at some point telling Mubarak privately it’s time to leave,” Rozen wrote, but the attendee said he didn’t believe the White House is ready to take that step yet.
Lynch did not return a request for comment.
