House Majority Leader-elect Eric Cantor announced last week that a GW graduate will be his deputy press secretary when the 112th U.S. Congress convenes in January.
Megan Whittemore earned a master’s degree in political management from the Graduate School of Political Management, and she graduated in 2008 from the School of Media and Public Affairs summa cum laude, with Phi Beta Kappa honors.
She worked for Cantor in the 111th Congress as the Whip Office’s deputy press secretary. Cantor serves Virginia’s 7th congressional district and also earned his undergraduate degree from GW in 1985.
Whittemore’s new role will have her managing “national and regional media coverage, coordinating strategic initiatives, while meeting the demands of daily communications and press operations,” according to a news release.
Before serving on the Republican congressman’s communications team, Whittemore worked for the Fox News Channel.
