After announcing yesterday that students would be charged four dollars for admission to NIT Season Tip-Off consolation round games hosted at the Smith Center Monday and Tuesday, athletic director Jack Kvancz said Friday that the University will foot the bill for any students interested in attending the games.
Kvancz said that the Colonial Army, the GW Spirit Program and the athletic department will work together to cover the cost of admission for students.
“Between the three of us, we’ll take care of the tickets,” Kvancz said.
Because the University is only the site of the consolation round games, and not the official host, the University could not technically offer free admission to students. Instead, GW will take care of the price of admission, four dollars per student ticket, so that the games will essentially remain free for students.
“I don’t want kids not to come because they’ve got to pay four dollars for a ticket,” Kvancz said.
