You may have heard her work on “This American Life.” You may have read her New York Times bestselling books. But the thing you may actually remember her for: voicing superhero Violet Parr in Pixar’s “The Incredibles.”
Sarah Vowell shared her work and her wit with an audience Saturday night at Lisner Auditorium.
“I’m just glad you don’t like Bob Dylan more than me tonight,” Vowell said. Dylan played the Smith Center Saturday night too.
The accomplished author, newspaper columnist and essayist read excerpts from her new book “Unfamiliar Fishes,” which comes out this spring, and from her 2005 book “Assassination Vacation.”
Vowell is also the president of the board of 826NYC, a nonprofit tutoring and writing center for students in Brooklyn, N.Y. She has appeared on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.”
“She’s hilarious,” said Gonzalo Escobar, a resident of Falls Church, Va. “She does a really great job of making history interesting to a wide range of audiences.”
