Decepticons and Autobots have invaded D.C., but passersby won’t see the results until “Transformers 3” is released in theaters July 2011. The cast and crew set up shop at the National Mall all week, disrupting traffic along E Street near campus.
Plans for the shoot include explosions on Jefferson Avenue and at the Grant Memorial and an attack scene involving Decepticons on Maryland Avenue.
Though most of the robots and explosions will be digitally added in later, the shoot wasn’t totally free from crashes.
The Chevy Camaro better known as “Bumblebee” crashed into a D.C. police SUV Monday.
More official movie sightings included an ERT truck and a large cart carrying prop machine guns.
But the best part of my journey down to the Mall: Actor Shia Labeouf smiled at me. No joke.
