Dying to see the Pantheon or the Sydney Opera House? Look no further than 2000 Pennsylvania Ave.
Reproductions of influential pieces of architecture have been installed in the 2000 Penn lobby – giving shoppers the chance to travel the world in less than five minutes.
The catch? All of reproductions are made out of canned food items.
In this collaboration between Canstruction, a project of the Society for Design Administration that holds competitions around the world, and the Capital Area Foodbank, local architecture firms lend their heads and hands to benefit the needy.
Built from donations from Whole Foods and Giant Foods among others, the structures await a panel of jurors who will decide the winners in categories like “Best meal” and “Best use of labels” before being dismantled and donated to the food bank.
To cast your vote for the best model, drop a canned food item in the box in front of each structure.
The Canstruction exhibit will stay open until Oct. 2, when the donation ceremony will take place. Next time you find yourself in the mood for Au Bon Pain, take a gander at the exhibit around the corner.
