Georgetown will attract local fashionistas again this Thursday night for the 8th Annual District Sample Sale, where shoppers will have another great chance to stock up on old and new season looks, while simultaneously benefiting the community.
The event features 20 D.C. area boutiques that will be selling their end-of-the-season stock for up to 90 percent off. If you can’t stand to see another summery DVF print in your closet, have no fear. Most of the stores are showing upcoming season looks priced exclusively for the event. If you’re lucky, maybe you’ll be able to pick up that Foley and Carina tote you’ve been eyeing for a fraction of the cost. A few participants include Urban Chic, Wink, Hysteria and Sherman Pickey.
Tickets range from $40 to $600. The sale opens at 5:30 p.m. for those lucky enough to snag a VIP pass, while doors open at 6:30 for the rest of us.
Restaurants and vendors including Georgetown Cupcakes will provide an assortment of hors d’oeuvres, and the over-21 crowd can indulge in cocktails from sponsors Malibu and Absolut.
All of the profits of the event go to the GW Mammovan. The brainchild of the GW medical staff, Medical Faculty Associates, and the Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation, the “Mammovan” travels around the District providing mammogram screenings. Starting in 1996, the van has screened almost 19,000 women in the area.
Mary Schmidt Amons of the Real Housewives of D.C. helped put on the sale and has professed her excitement through her Facbeook page. As much as the housewives love publicity, it would not be shocking to see Amons’ counterparts in attendance.
