Hurricane Earl, a Category 3 storm expected to make landfall on the east coast this week, is not expected to have a large impact on the District, according a campus advisory.
“Current forecasts indicate that the storm is not expected to have any significant impact on the Washington Metropolitan Area. If the situation warrants, the Campus Advisories Web site and the GW Information Line (202) 994-5050 will be updated with additional information,” the advisory said.
Earl downgraded from a Category 4 storm to a Category 3 Wednesday. Gov. Bob McDonnell has declared a state of emergency along the Virginia coast where a hurricane watch is in effect, the New York Times reported.
