In D.C. for a meeting with the Obama administration, Dominican Republic President Leonel Fernandez plans to speak Tuesday about the global economy and Latin America.
Fernandez, now in his third term as president, will speak on “the global economic crisis and its impact on Latin America,” according to a news release from GW.
University President Steven Knapp is set to make his own remarks before the address which begins at 10 a.m in the Jack Morton Auditorium.
Fernandez met Monday with President Barack Obama, where they discussed the Dominican’s role in Haiti relief efforts and Dominican-focused issues including drug trafficking and crime in the region, according to an article by USA Today.
Fernandez and Obama came together to remember the earthquake that devastated the Dominican Republic’s neighbor Haiti 6 months ago.
