Movie rental kiosks coming to Foggy Bottom Metro station

A movie rental system is coming to the Foggy Bottom Metro station, the Washington Area Metropolitan Transit Association announced Thursday.

Thirteen stations are receiving the movie rental kiosks, including the Foggy Bottom station, according to a WMATA press release.

Metro will receive nearly $1 million in revenue over an eight-year period from the movie kiosks, according to a WMATA press release, a likely welcomed revenue stream for the transportation system, which has experienced devastating budget shortfalls in recent months.

“Retail services in stations will be good for riders and Metro, especially right now in this economy,” said Jim Graham, chairperson of Metro’s Board Joint Development and Real Estate Committee.
