University President Steven Knapp attended the second session of Colonial Inauguration Monday to greet a crop of incoming freshmen, despite announcing earlier in June that schedule conflicts would prevent him from attending the orientation session.
University spokeswoman Candace Smith said earlier this month that trips to Morocco and New York, as well as meetings with potential donors, would make Knapp unavailable during three of the freshman orientation programs. In lieu of his attendance, Knapp was going to greet incoming freshmen through a video announcement.
“He attended and it’s possible he’ll attend more,” Smith said in an e-mail in reference to Knapp’s attendance at the first day of CI 2. “As I mentioned previously, if his schedule changed, he would try to attend CI.”
