Another law firm could be leasing space in the mixed-use development property under construction across from the GW Hospital.
The Washington Business Journal reported Friday that “several real estate sources” said law firm Vinson & Elkins LLP recently signed a letter of intent to lease about 90,000 square feet of the commercial office building at 2200 Pennsylvania Ave. NW.
Boston Properties, the site’s developer, declined to comment for the Washington Business Journal’s article and The Hatchet was unable to reach the developer for comment Friday.
In 2008, law firm Hunton & Williams signed a lease to occupy 190,000 square feet of the 450,000 total square feet of commercial office space at the site. The firm was the first company to sign a lease for the project.
In April, Boston Properties Senior Project Manager Jake Stroman told The Hatchet two retail tenants had signed leases, as well. Stroman confirmed that Boston Properties was in negotiations with a grocery store at the time, but said he couldn’t comment on the name of the grocery or other information until a lease was signed.
The project is being built at the site of the old GW Hospital and will include 84,000 square feet of retail and 333 apartments.
Construction began in the spring of 2008 and is expected to be completed in early 2011.
