For homesick students longing for a new puppy, the National Zoo is offering the next best option–the opportunity to name two newborn Andean bear cubs.
The male and female cubs were born in mid-January and are scheduled to make their public debut May 22, but not until they each have a name. Similar to the naming contest The National Zoo held for Tai Shan, the giant panda cub who lived at the zoo for the first four years of his life, the public is encouraged to vote for the names of the two bear cubs.
The chosen names will be released May 19. For more photos of these adorable cubs, check out the National Zoo’s website.
