Five GW women’s lacrosse players earned spots on Atlantic 10 all-conference teams, which were announced by the A-10 on Thursday.
Senior Kelsey Honeyford was the lone Colonial to be given first-team, all-Atlantic 10 honors, making her the fourth GW women’s lacrosse player to make the first team since 2006. Kelsey Honeyford follows in the footsteps of her older sister Katelyn Honeyford, who was previously named to the first-team, all-Atlantic 10 as a GW women’s lacrosse player in 2007.
Sophomore Sarah Phillips and red shirt junior Laura Dominiak earned second-team, all-conference honors. Phillips, who was the 2009 A-10 Rookie of the Year as a freshman, led the Colonials in points and assists this season. Dominiak had 29 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers, both team highs for GW.
Colonial freshmen Abby Sneeringer and Nicole Lacey were both recognized as members of the A-10 all-rookie team. Lacey was named the A-10 and womenslacrosse.com rookie of the week on March 12 after scoring a game-winning goal March 11 in triple overtime against La Salle. Sneeringer closed the season well, scoring 11 of her 12 goals during the final four games of her rookie campaign.
Beyond being recognized for their play on the field, both Phillips and junior Liz Hoffman earned spots on the academic all-conference team.
