Author of “Reading Lolita in Tehran,” son of Shah of Iran to speak next week

Two upcoming events, both highlighting issues in Iran, caught our eye. Check out the links for more information.

Azar Nafisi, author of “Reading Lolita in Tehran,” is keynoting a conference co-hosted by the Institute for Public Diplomacy and Global Communication and School of Media and Public Affairs. The conference, titled “Iran’s Blogosphere and Grassroots Voices: Risks and Rewards of Engagement,” focuses on the effects of new media and social networks in modern-day Iran.

Tuesday, 7 p.m.
Elliott School, Room 213

Son of the late Shah of Iran, Reza Pahlavi, will speak at 7 p.m. about advocating for freedom, democracy and human rights for Iranians. Pahlavi, who now lives in Potomac, Maryland, is the former Crown Prince of Iran and has been living in exile since the Iranian Revolution in 1979. The event is sponsored by the International Affairs Society.
