A senior government executive is slated to speak to graduates of the College of Professional Studies during the graduate school’s commencement ceremony on May 15.
Last Monday University spokeswoman Emily Cain said Michelle Moore, the federal environmental executive, is expected to address the graduating students. The Office of the Federal Environmental Executive is responsible for promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship throughout federal government operations and is a component of the President’s Council on Environmental Equality.
Commencement Weekend begins May 12 and culminates with the University’s Commencement Ceremony on the National Mall. The College of Professional Studies ceremony is on May 15.
First lady Michelle Obama promised to be the University-wide commencement speaker if the GW community completed 100,000 hours of community service by May 1. As of March 22, the University completed 86,209 hours, according to University spokeswoman Courtney Bowe.

Law School: Mary Schapiro, chairperson of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission
Elliott School of International Affairs, graduate and undergraduate ceremonies: Rose Gottemoeller, assistant secretary of state for the Office of Verification, Compliance and Implementation
School of Business, graduate ceremony: Marcia Bullard, retiring president and chief executive of USA Weekend magazine
School of Business, undergraduate ceremony: Ric Duques, alumnus, former chairman of First Data Corporation and benefactor of Ric and Dawn Duques Hall
School of Engineering and Applied Science: Dr. H. Vincent Poor, Welling professor at GW, dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Princeton University.
