Meghan McCain will speak at the Jack Morton Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on March 25, according to a news release from the event’s organizers.
Her March appearance will serve as a make-up event, after her address was postponed due to last month’s snowstorms.
McCain’s speech is titled, “Redefining Republican: No Labels. No Boxes. No Stereotypes” and is being sponsored by several organizations including the Graduate School of Political Management Student Association and Allied in Pride, as well as the Log Cabin Republicans, a national organization.
Originally scheduled to speak in February, McCain’s planned trip to campus generated controversy over the purpose of her visit. Allied in Pride President Michael Komo told The Hatchet Jan. 14 that McCain would be coming to campus for Allied in Pride’s Marriage Equality Week. But after hearing of the event’s characterization as the keynote address for Marriage Equality Week, the GW College Republicans pulled their funding for the event – saying that Komo had not been clear about what McCain would be speaking about.
McCain is the daughter of former Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain.
