The week before spring break has given students a taste of the warm weather ahead. Students were seen in Kogan Plaza and University Yard lounging wherever the sun was shining wearing long stored away outfits that screamed to be seen. This time around we ran into some of our favorite fashionistas who knew exactly what to do with the abrupt change of season.
Alex Sotolongo, a sophomore from Miami
He looked as if he had had his outfit laid out for months and today was the perfect day for a test drive. Sotolongo is wearing a red and white striped Penguin polo t-shirt under a cream colored cardigan from Marc by Marc Jacobs, khaki colored jeans from Rugby, taupe desert boots from J.Crew and, to keep the blazing sun out of his eyes, a pair of Ray Bans. Alex likes to shop at J.Crew and Rugby and looks to his brother for fashion inspiration.
Natalie Schwartz, a freshman from New York City
She knew exactly how to take the jegging trend (jean leggings) from a winter favorite to a spring must by tweaking a few key aspects of her outfit. She paired the J Brand jeggings with a cream-colored, cocoon cardigan from Max Azria with a white striped tank underneath. Finally we can put the UGGs away! She completed her look with black patent leather Jack Purcell Converse sneakers. Schwartz shops at Zara, Opening Ceremony and Calypso. She cited her friends as her fashion inspiration.
Will Hoffman, a sophomore from Boston
Newly added to the fashionista list, Hoffman knew exactly what to pull together for a warm spring day. He donned a cream and blue pinstripe “air” jacket by Patrick Ervell, a brown A.P.C. cardigan, skinny jeans also by A.P.C. and desert boots from J. Crew. Hoffman likes to shop at Barneys, Opening Ceremony and Stel’s. On the off chance that he needs a little fashion inspiration, Hoffman turns to fashion editor Derek Blasberg and designer Rick Owens.
If this is the early coming of spring, then let’s dress the part. Put your fleece lined boots and dark colors away and embrace the lighter, happier hues of spring. And when you do, don’t hide in Gelman all day. Take a break from studying and show off your fabulous style.
