Here’s what’s happening this weekend:
Foggy Bottom fanfare:
- Slate III, receSs’ improv comedy festival, is happening March 5 and 6 at Betts Theatre. The shows will feature comedy from colleges groups at University of Maryland, New York University and Penn State University; professional acts include Derrick Comedy and Washington Improv Theater. Tickets are $5 for an individual show or $15 for a festival pass.
- Forbidden Planet Production‘s fourth annual musical cabaret is happening March 5 and 6 in the Lisner Downstage. The show will feature nine different scenes from several Broadway musicals, including “Gypsy,” “The Lion King” and “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.”

- Norwegian singer-songwriter Sondre Lerche is performing at The Rock and Roll Hotel March 5. Tickets are $20.
- Check out “Improv Mosaic” all this weekend at the Warehouse Theater. This mini improv festival will include performances by Precipice Improv Theater and the Improv Art Show.
- Alexandria is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day early with a parade March 6 on King and West streets.
