Fashionistas of the Week is a weekly post featuring the three best dressed students on campus spotted by our fashion writer. Keep your eyes open for a reporter and photographer walking around because you might be chosen as the latest trendsetter.
Post Written by Hatchet reporter Hallie Mindell.
On this rather gloomy and chilly day, the GW student body still reminded us that the weather has no affect on style. Although a little tougher to spot than usual, we were still able to find a few students that caught our eye.
Charlotte McCoy, freshman from Bernardsville, N.J.
She certainly brightened up the day wearing a red peacoat from Benetton, a black skirt from a consignment store and black tall suede boots from Nine West. Charlotte enjoys shopping at budget friendly stores, but in particular the sales rack at Urban Outfitters. When asked about her fashion inspiration she says she loves the classic looks of the 1950’s, in particular Audrey Hepburn. A more modern fashion inspiration that she looks to is Zooey Deschanel.
Brian Kelly, freshman from Tenafly, N.J.
He is the perfect mix of street cool but is still dressed study-ready for Gelman. Brian is wearing Levi jeans and a dark grey and purple zip up from Buffalo under a black puffy coat from Black Rivet. He completes his look with a pair of worn-in Nikes. Brian likes to shop at Urban Outfitters and Nordstrom and goes for the Adrian Grenier look (Vincent Chase from Entourage) for fashion inspiration.
Celine Koh, graduate student from Singapore
She really knows how to layer and still look fabulous! She’s wearing a Bebe floral dress over black tights, a cream colored blazer, a multicolored knit scarf from Aeropostale and cream-colored flats from Rocket Dog. Her final layering piece is a grey/blue cargo coat from DKNY. She’s also carrying a polka dot bag from Porter. Celine likes to shop online and at Forever 21. When asked about her fashion inspiration she suggested that she likes an array of tastes, noting two celebrities with very different clothing styles, Nicole Kidman and Katy Perry.
Although we almost caught hypothermia waiting for our fellow stylish students, we’re glad we stuck it out and found these three colonials. Just because it’s cold out doesn’t mean you have to compromise on fashion. It’s actually the opposite – more room for great layering! Keep your outfits interesting so next time we can spot you!
