Five fire engines, two trucks, two battalion chiefs and an ambulance responded to a kitchen fire on the fourth floor of the Jefferson House apartment building Friday night, according to a D.C. Fire Department Battalion Chief on scene.
Burning food on a stove in room 415 of the building – located at 922 24th Street NW, behind the GW Hospital – drew the large response from DCFD, however the fire was contained to the stove and no damage was sustained to the building, according to the Battalion Chief who declined to give his name.
