Gelman, Virginia Campus libraries close due to snow, Eckles remains open

Update: 1:15 p.m.

The University has closed the Gelman and Virginia Campus libraries on Saturday due to the inclement weather, University spokeswoman Michelle Sherrard said Saturday morning.

Sherrard said the Eckles library will be open until 8 p.m.

Because the libraries’ professional staff were unable to get to work, Sherrard said the University decided to close their operations for the day.

She added that the libraries “may  be open tomorrow,” and that the University will decide whether or not to reopen them based on the weather conditions.

Snow totals stood at 19.5 inches at 6:50 a.m. Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service. That total was measured over at American University. A blizzard warning remains in effect until 10 p.m. tonight.
