Restaurant Review: Rogue States

This post was written by Hatchet Reporter Taylor Singer.

Sometimes “going rogue” can have a tasty reward. Rogue States, D.C.’s newest burger joint, is affordable and delicious.

Located just across the street from the Farragut North Metro stop, the spacious burger haven  serves a variety of half-pound burgers, all for a reasonably priced $7.  The restaurant’s self-named burger is grilled with a house spice blend, chipotle, and cilantro;  other burgers have flavor-themed names like the “Now and Zen,” the “Curried Away” and the “Ciao Down.” The burgers are cooked to order in two ways –  “pink” or “no pink”  – and  are served with lettuce, tomato, pickle and onions on a brioche bun.  Although there are no vegetarian options, turkey meat can be substituted for many of the burgers, and both regular and sweet potato fries are available.  The restaurant provides a variety of dipping sauces, like wasabi mayo, and on every table there are vintage ketchup and mustard bottles along with enough napkins for the messiest of eaters.

The staff is young and the food is served quickly, proving that despite only having being opened less than a week, the restaurant is professional and ready to serve anyone with a burger craving. Rogue States is in the process of acquiring a liquor license so that they can have beers on tap by Blue and Gray Brewing Co.

Open until 5 a.m. daily, Rogue States is an option any time of day.

Rogue States is located on 1300 Connecticut Ave. and is open from 11 a.m. to 5 a.m. daily. 202-296-2242
